KSHE is a rock & roll radio station licensed to Crestwood, Missouri which serves the St. Louis, Missouri area. KSHE is located at 94.7 MHz and currently uses the slogan "KSHE 95, Real Rock Radio". The station mascot is a sunglass wearing pig named Sweet Meat, a likeness of which originally appeared on the Blodwyn Pig LP, "A Head Rings Out". Like the pig pictured on the lp cover, Sweet Meat first appeared with a joint in his mouth. This "controversial" detail disappeared in the early '80s. The station's studios have been located in the Powerhouse building at St. Louis Union Station since the 1990s, while the transmitter remains in Crestwood. KSHE is owned by Emmis Communications.
KSHE broadcasts RBDS data. Its morning show is a syndicated feed of the Bob & Tom Show, out of Indianapolis. It recently announced its first HD Radio subchannel, which will broadcast a 24-hour version of longtime personality John Ulett's popular KSHE Klassics Show.
KSHE originally played lighter, female-oriented rock when it first started operating as KSHE (Hence, the reason for the SHE in KSHE), Over the years, KSHE gradually incorporated more mainstream rock to become the station that it is today.
KSHE, one of the oldest continually operating rock stations in the country, will be celebrating its 40th birthday in November, 2007.
